Grand Opening Announcement

Hello Everyone:

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Terri Sullivan, I am the new program director here at the Yapo Computer Learning Center. As some of you may have already heard we are hosting the grand opening for our new building. The event will take place on Thursday August 30, 2007 from 2pm-4pm. At the event Rep. Tim Melton, Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard, and Mayor Clarence E. Phillips will be some of the guest speakers as well as the family members of Mr. Yapo. Also, Barbara Chiapella, whom is the head of hud will be speaking, and present the Yapo CLC with the level 2 plaque. There will also be media coverage, and the event will be aired on the public access channel with comcast. I will keep you all posted as the event progess.

Scenarios:


  1. The event will begin informally at #68 Karen Court (Student-Created DVD will be playing on monitor). A copy of the "Grand Opening Celebration" brochure will be presented to each guest by a young person. That young person will briefly give some personal impression/experience of what the YAPO Computer Learning Center has meant to them. They will accompany that guest and/or small-party of guests through the back patio entrance and down the 'Walk of Star's" (signs in ground with Pictures, short phrases or Key-event dates and/or graduates, benchmarks, etc.) to the sidewalk in front of the NEW YAPO Center. There they will introduce them to another young-person (the first young person returns to #68 Karen Court) who will bring them to the front door of the New YAPO Center where they will have their picture taken in the front entrance. The young person will introduce the guest or small-party to an official-greeter whom will accompany them inside and/or to the tented areas for refreshments and additional informal introductions to other guests, etc.
  2. Inside the New YAPO Center various "digital media" (original YAPO #68 Grand Opening video, violence prevention DVD, steudent-created DVD, Grpahics, Pictures, flyers, brochures, blog-site links, etc. will be displayed (projected at the front of the room) with softly playing background music.
  3. The "Master of Ceremonies" will call the YAPO CLC Community & Guests together promptly at 2:00pm to begin the ceremony (See Brochrue for Schedule of Events, Speakers, etc.). (Digital Video and Still Pictures will be captured by the young peple tech-team organized by Nick)
  4. Immedaitely following the ceremonies the YAPO CLC Community & Guest will be excused and will be asked to linger for refreshments and conversation (It will important to capture these immediate reflections, etc.)
  5. Each guest and/or small-party should be accompanied to their vehicle and thanked for attending if possible.
  6. Video and still capture at each station by students: (a) #68 Karen Ct. (b) Front door of YAPO (c) Inside of YAPO center. Students can be "blogging" the new digital captures LIVE! during the event. Participants can see themselves on the blog-site (in real-time) and later in the evening.
  7. Develop an on site registry of all who attend. Get email address for future updates on the projects and for soliciting support for the future.
  8. Have a large sign-in tag board to have people write their good wishes toward the program. At the end of the event photo same and put it on the blog site as well as framing it for display in the lobby of YAPO along with the "Grand Opening Celebration and dedication pictures.
  9. Strong community presence on the day of the event will help show support.
  10. Each guest should be asked for a business card if they have one... future reference.
